Boise Front Fourth of July Butterfly Count

Description of the event, key to the butterflies found so far, species pages, and count history are all here for what is simply the best science experience in the Boise area.

Coloring Book Pages: Butterflies and Fish

This section is the result of some Eagle Scout projects, developed by Museum volunteers. Each page is an outline of a fish or butterfly, ready for coloring. The page is an Acrobat pdf file, so you will need the Acrobat reader to open the page after it downloads. Simply print (laser printer output withstands the rigors of coloring best) and have at it. This tool provides a quick way to reach the species page and download individual colloring book pages. Each species page has images to follow if one wants to make a realistic creature, as well as basic information about the animal. All the butterflies or all the fish can be downloaded at once (be warned: big files!) from this tool or from the header section of Ichthyology or Lepidoptera.

Key to Corbiculacea of North America

This tool is a pictoral dichotomous key to the Musculium, Pisidium, and Sphaerium genera based on a poster by Dr. Gerald L. Mackie, University of Guelph, professor emeritis. The poster is available as a download.

Snake River River Mile Tic Mark Lat/Long and Elevation

This tool gives the latitude and longitude in decimal degrees and the elevation in meters for a listed river mile tic mark for the Snake River from USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle maps. Ultimately, this tool will cover the Columbia River Basin. The information is scaled off National Geographic's TOTP 4.0 and thus only approximate. Please verify in the field if your application is critical.
