Missoula Children’s Theatre presents SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, an original musical and story adaptation of the classic fairy tale by Jim Caron and Michael McGill with additional music by Don Collins and additional dialogue by Jeff Hall.
A young princess, Snow White, finds herself in peril when her stepmother Queen Bella is told by her Magic Mirror that the princess is fairer than she. Aided by her two Henchmen and a band of evil Bats, the Queen plots to get rid of Snow White. Snow White escapes from Queen Bella and from the Black Forest Creatures with help from Witless the Woodsman. She finds a home with the Seven Dwarfs. When Queen Bella learns of Snow White’s whereabouts, she attempts to poison Snow White. Queen Bella’s evil plans are thwarted when Snow White’s fearless Forest Friends, her father King Backwards, the Seven Dwarfs and the Prince come to her rescue.
Local youth have the opportunity to participate in the production of Snow
White. Tryouts will be held on President’s Day, February 21, at Wilson School in Caldwell from 1-3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30 for students 1st-12th grade. Doors close at 1:00. Parents are not allowed to watch because the youth are more attentive without them. All participants have the opportunity to be in
Snow White with about 60 parts or in a “Green Show” directed by Shelly-jeane Soule, drama teacher at Canyon Springs, an alternative high school which is housed in what was the old Van Buren School. Rehearsals begin after a short break following the auditions and continue after school throughout the week.
One of the attributes of this event is that parents do not have to make or buy a costume. Missoula Children's Theatre provides everything that is needed. Rehearsals are well organized and the lines, staging, songs, and movement are learned in four-and-a-half hours each day. The two 2-hour sessions have a short snack break in between. Not all cast members attend all sessions. A schedule for the week is available at the first rehearsal.
